Steve Baines commuted from Brighton to London for work since leaving school at seventeen. He always hoped that he would leave his office job to pursue his interests in design. He finally took the plunge in 2005 to undertake a City and Guilds furniture making course and embarked on a new career as a self employed furniture maker shortly after. Since then he has also worked on creating his own furniture designs. Influenced by early modernists through to post-war Utility furniture he used the Eames’ “learning through doing” approach to develop his ideas. Designer of the Nutility Collection
