Al Khayyat was Liqui’s second coffee shop design in Saudi Arabia for Brew92. It is just one of our stand-out interiors in the Middle East; with previous projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah. The Al Khayyat flagship coffee shop design was shortlisted for the FX Awards Global Project, and previously the Design Middle East Awards 2018. It features a specialist roastery and an extensive coffee counter offering premium choices. The coffee shop interior brings together reclaimed wood, refined finishes, lush green foliage, and deep blues to create a beautiful and memorable environment that is integral to the Brew92 brand.
To break up the open two-story empty space in a way that would give it some character we opted to give it the feel of a reappropriated warehouse and worked our coffee shop floor plan around this. We divided the space into smaller more human-scale seating areas including more private lounge ‘rooms’ enclosed by an industrial mesh. We also designed architectural elements such as the stand-out glazed structure that houses the roastery which complemented the large island coffee counter and striking spiral staircase.
Liqui undertook the interior design work itself in the UK. Our technical specifications were then sent to the client in Saudi Arabia for their build team to work from. As the build got underway, back in the UK we proceeded to manufacture the large quantity of contract furniture and lighting required for the project, which was then shipped directly to the client.
This is another flagship coffee shop design in Saudi Arabia that has been a huge success for Brew 92.
