In 2014 Liqui showed for the first time at London Coffee Festival. In 2015 we returned – this time to design the whole brand experience for the exhibition. This project set out to bring a taste of Hyde Park into the show at The Old Truman Brewery. The aim was to create something new and exciting – ‘The Hyde Park Sketchbook’ was the result. The area was the centre point of the trade exhibition and Liqui designed something that allowed realism and surrealism to meet. It’s a place for visitors to relax, enjoy their coffee and be inspired. The Liqui team designed every detail to be unique and minimal – creating maximum impact on both a visual and social level.

By crossing both the natural and built environment with the life size version of a sketchbook a world of real elements in illustration was born. The result was an intriguing space inviting visitors to explore and discover the hidden elements within the white oasis of a surreal Hyde Park. Liqui deliberately used white finishes with hand drawn highlights to simply create a dramatic visual impact and also allow for a striking contrast against the visual busyness of the surrounding trade stand environment.

LIQUI - BRIEF AND INITIAL DESIGNS - Hyde-Park-sketch of a Liqui design for London Coffee Festival

A two-dimensional interpretation of a food truck has been employed as the espresso-martini bar, a focal point for the theme that created an appealing service area for the visitors. Liqui designed everything to be different, therefore quirky features were included in the Hyde Park area.

Liqui designed small details such as a 2D dog, an ice-cream dropped on the floor, a squirrel up a tree carrying a coffee cup and a park bench complete with a plaque to commemorate the death of instant coffee. These little details add to the overall feel and provide Instagramming and Tweeting opportunities.

"Over the last 3 years, Liqui has been an outstanding design partner, delivering highly engaging stand designs and exhibition spaces for our events and clients across Europe." Ludovic Rossignol,
COO Allegra Events Ltd & Balance Inc Ltd

The furniture for the show was designed and produced by Liqui especially for the LCF event. The tables and benches are made from high-quality 22mm Birch Ply and tubular steel. They are made to last in high traffic environments and conveniently bolt together to aid with storage and transport.

The furniture used in the Hyde Park area has been hand illustrated to give the illusion of timber planks tying it in with the sketchbook style of the surroundings.
